Born in England 1974 designer David Tomkinson spent the early years of his life surrounded by strong influences of retro 70's pop art and culture. Moving to Australia with his family in 1980 was an eye opening experience for the young DT, a new life, a new country, a new era, David absorbed the ostentatious decadence of early 80's with much enthusiasm, thus becoming a major influence in his design career. During his teens and early adulthood David traveled extensively, indulging his passion for innovative art, fashion and architecture and educating himself on the lure of cult style statements, until 2003 when David partnered with Australian designer Mark Bradbury to establish DT Clothes AUSTRALIA. Mark and David have since seen worldwide success with DT Clothes, in which the designs are heavily influenced by re-collections of youth during the 1970's and 1980's.
David believes in simple, healthy, efficient living as a means to achieving success in every aspect of existence. David maintains a positive mind set by balancing a healthy diet with vigorous daily exercise. David achieved success in his youth as a competitive swimmer and appreciates the affects intense training of mind and body has in the development of clarity, vision and pure focus, the keys to channeling creative energy into a specific conceptual design space. David believes the path to achieving one's objectives lies in the constant process of creating, defining, simplifying, and refining... an ideal that is heavily incorporated into DT's design philosophy.
